    Appleseed 2013

    Wow, what a week! Here’s a rundown of what’s been going on…

First, to those of you who has been a part of the long road that has brought us to this point, thank you. To my support staff, which also consists of my closest family and friends, you are the reason Sweets So Geek succeeds. I don’t know what I would do without you…

Second, what a day it was. To give you some insight, Appleseed Comic Con is one of the greatest one day shows around. Zack Kruse puts together a show that supports artists and creators like no other. His hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated! As this was our first convention appearance as more than a guest, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I have to say that the experience was exhilarating and rewarding. Being able to meet people who showed such great enthusiasm for our products was worth all the work to get to this point. I don’t know how many times Heather (my marketing, shipping, and logistical guru and lovely wife) and I looked at each other and just shook our heads in amazement. The outpouring of excitement was slightly diminished when we had to let people know they couldn’t buy items directly from us due to a non-competition clause the hotel attached to the convention center has (because they must have a secret production center for geeky sweets), but the fact is we had orders placed, contacts made, and we are now out there in the hearts and minds of the community.

What does this mean for Sweets So Geek? It means that hopefully you’ll see us out and about both in the Fort Wayne community at more events and within the comic convention circuit. I know we’re planning on one or two more convention appearances this year where we will be able to sell you our chocolates and cookies and whatever else we come up with and are looking into even more opportunities for 2014.

Once again, I have to say thanks. Thanks to those who have ordered from me directly or through my Etsy shop, thanks to those who have made suggestions or just been there in support, and thanks to those who have dealt with the fallout of the long hours spent working on chocolates, cakes, and cookies, the added pounds from the forced sampling of the confectionaries, and the invasion of all the supplies taking over our home. Without you, all of you, this wouldn’t be possible!
